Why Pet Parents Love It:

The Nobbl Mission

The Nobbl Mission

Step 1

Interactive Play

To your dog, the highlight of the day isn't just getting outside—it’s getting to play with you.

We know walking the dog can sometimes feel like a chore - But it doesn't have to! Our toys are designed with you in mind. Satisfying to throw and with an unpredictable bounce, for fetch sessions you'll love to be a part of.

Step 2

Promoting Connection

The best moments in life are the ones we share.

In a fast-paced world, shared play creates dedicated moments of presence, turning everyday routines into opportunities to bond.

Every Nobbl toy invites you to step into your dog’s world, switch off, and connect.

Step 3

Safer Toys

Co-founded by a Vet, safety is non-negotiable at Nobbl.

At vet school, Alex learned about the dangers posed by popular toys like nylon chews, sticks and tennis balls, that are either too hard, too sharp, or too rough for dogs' teeth.

Our toys are made from smooth, soft, natural rubber, and lab-tested to ensure they are free from harmful toxins.

Step 4

Happier Dogs, Happier Humans

Scientific studies have highlighted the profound benefits that playing with your dog can have on both your physical and mental health*.

This is why we are so passionate about interactive play - Because when you’re enjoying the moment together, everybody wins.

Play more. Bond more.

Our story so far

Meet the founders and explore our journey to date

Dr Alex Tooley BVMSci MRCVS

Dr Alex Tooley BVMSci MRCVS

Co-Founder and Veterinary Surgeon

Having spent my childhood playing with our six energetic Spaniels—Barney, Mabel, Henry, Hector, Benji, and Shadow—I experienced firsthand the joy dogs bring to our lives. I also learned early on that a dog is far more than just a pet: they are a companion, a confidant, and an unconditional friend.

Later, while studying Veterinary Medicine at the University of Surrey, I learned just how critical mental stimulation and play are for a dog’s overall welfare. But during my time in veterinary practices, seeing cases of avoidable injuries and severe dental damage, I came to a worrying realization: many popular dog toys simply aren't safe.

After graduating, I returned to The New Forest to practice as a veterinarian. Shortly after, my wife and I welcomed Bailey—our Labrador x Cocker Spaniel—into our family. Bailey comes to work with me almost every day, acts as Chief Product Tester, and serves as the primary inspiration behind Nobbl. Because Bailey adores fetch, I felt it was my duty to ensure his toys were as safe, durable, and fun as humanly possible.

Together with my lifelong friend and fellow dog-lover, Will, we created Nobbl. Our mission is simple: to design toys that prioritize safety, durability, and true engagement—so you and your dog can keep playing safely for years to come.

Co-Founder and Qualified Solicitor

Growing up in the New Forest, I was incredibly lucky to spend my childhood surrounded by nature, adventure and, of course, dogs. Dogs have always been a huge part of my life, from Penny, our Collie-Labrador cross, to Hudson and Charlie, our two Hungarian Vizslas. Today, our family dog Fern, a Doberman crossed with a German Shorthaired Pointer, continues that tradition. She's a complete softie who adores people, other dogs and, unsurprisingly, a game of fetch with her Nobbl!

Alex and I had been bouncing ideas around for a while, until one unpredictable bounce off a divot changed everything. When Alex shared the story with me, I immediately knew we had the chance to create something genuinely different. Together, we set out to design a dog toy that made fetch more exciting, while also being durable, safe and buoyant.

Away from Nobbl, I'm a solicitor by profession, but you'll usually find me outdoors with Fern, exploring the New Forest and making the most of every opportunity to get outside.

For me, Nobbl has always been about more than just a dog toy. It's about creating those moments where owners and dogs are fully present together - laughing, playing and making memories that last a lifetime.

A lifelong friendship

A lifelong friendship

Alex and Will first met in 2002 when they were at pre-school. They became good friends and attended the same infant, junior and secondary schools. Although they parted ways to attend different colleges, they remained close friends throughout, and both moved back to The New Forest after graduating university.

The Idea for Nobbl

The Idea for Nobbl

On a crisp, Spring morning, a tennis ball hit a divot and took a surprising bounce, sending the ensuing Bailey scrambling to catch it. Seeing how much Bailey loved the challenge, Alex had the idea to create a toy with this unpredictability built in. Having dreamed over the years of building a business together, Alex didn’t hesitate to call Will. With Alex’s experience as a vet, and their shared love of dogs, they knew that this was about more than making a fun toy, this was about building a brand that believes in better, safer, more engaged play.

Nobbl Takes Shape

Nobbl Takes Shape

After weeks of discussion and endless design iterations, the very first Nobbl concept prototype came to life on a 3D printer in Alex’s spare bedroom. Seeing the physical design take shape made everything real. The name Nobbl followed naturally, inspired by the toy’s unique shape and playful movement, and Nobbl Pet Company Ltd was officially registered shortly after.

Product Design

Product Design

With our initial model complete, we obsessively refined the Nobbl's shape and weight distribution. We selected natural rubber to deliver the ideal balance of durability, wild bounce, and dental safety for aggressive play. During this phase of intensive testing, we also perfected the logo that now sits proudly on every Nobbl product.

Testing and R&D

Testing and R&D

To validate our design before investing in final production tooling, we ordered initial silicone prototypes. While they weren't quite durable enough to meet our expectations, Bailey and Fern gave them a resounding seal of approval for play! This crucial testing phase proved our shape was a hit, while confirming that natural rubber was the only material tough enough for the final Nobbl toy.

PATS 2025

PATS 2025

Whilst waiting for our natural rubber prototypes to be made, we attended the Pet and Aquatics Trade Show (PATS) in Birmingham, to engage with other professionals in the pet industry. We hope to host our own stand there soon. During this period, we also worked behind-the-scenes with an artist to bring our unique packaging vision to life.

Play-testing and feedback

Play-testing and feedback

Unboxing our first natural rubber prototypes was a major milestone. We produced multiple hardness levels and recruited a team of dog volunteers to put them through their paces. Analysing their feedback helped us perfect our custom rubber compound—achieving the ideal combination of dental safety, durability, and energetic bounce.

Final Samples

Final Samples

Twelve months of dedicated design, rigorous safety testing, and hands-on play culminated in our final finished samples. The shape was perfected, the rubber compound was dialled in, and the fun factor was off the charts. After a final testing phase, we placed our first official manufacturing order—bringing Nobbl from concept to reality.

Production Complete

Production Complete

With our first official batch of Nobbl toys coming off the production line, the countdown was officially on! As our stock made its way to us, we poured our energy into polishing our online store, organising our distribution center, and filming content for our social channels. Everything was aligning, ready for launch.

Frequently asked questions

What makes Nobbl toys different from standard dog toys?

Most dog toys are designed to keep a dog quiet. Nobbl toys are engineered to encourage active, shared engagement between you and your dog because we believe the best play happens together. Our mission is to create toys that you enjoy just as much as they do, without compromising on safety or durability.

Are Nobbl toys suitable for aggressive chewers?

Yes! We use premium, puncture-resistant natural rubber, specifically chosen to withstand serious chewers. While no dog toy is truly 100% indestructible, we design our products to last.

How do I choose the right size or toy for my dog?

We provide clear size and weight recommendations on every product page. As a general rule, if your dog falls between sizes, we recommend sizing up to ensure the safest and most enjoyable play experience.

What materials are used in Nobbl toys? Are they safe?

Your dog's safety is our absolute priority. All Nobbl toys are crafted from non-toxic materials. We test our products rigorously to meet and exceed UK and EU children's toys safety standards, ensuring they are completely safe for close mouth contact and daily play.

What is your return policy if my dog doesn't like the toy?

We want you and your dog to love playing with Nobbl. In compliance with UK Consumer Rights, we offer a hassle-free 14-day return window for any unused, resalable items in their original packaging. Please note that for hygiene and safety reasons, we cannot accept returns on toys that have already been chewed or played with unless the item is faulty. See our refund policy for further details.

How long does shipping take, and how much does it cost?

We currently only ship within the UK. Standard UK shipping typically takes 2–4 business days, and we offer free shipping on all orders of two or more nobbl toys to help you get the best value. Exact shipping rates and tracking details will be calculated at checkout. See our shipping policy for more details.
